TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR OUR OWN ACTIONS!!

I swear the amount of times I've chosen to point fingers and play the victim has been more than enough times! *shame on me*

Sometimes the shame that comes with having done something wrong and someone expecting you to admit may be alot to handle at the time and as an ego protective measure you may  have resulted to blame game or lying! I have a feeling you relate...

So why is it so hard to just say, "I'm responsible for what has happened," or at least be accountable for the role you played in the commission of the mishap!? We do not want to allow facts to get in the way of our feelings, because that's what is most important for us to protect. Instead of learning from past mistakes and growing personally, we view rejecting responsibility as a much easier alternative and helps protect the ego from being bruised. Which is totally unfortunate because ultimately all this brings is more problems! The accused cannot believe that you are blaming them for everything like you weren't part of it and you are there hella defensive even when low key you know you've got blood on your hands too. So what's with all the games? And you know two can play that game, right? It becomes a pile up of more and more unnecessary childishness and avoidable blame games.

Standing ovation or nah? .... I think NOT!

So funny story (not so funny, lolI had gone to one of the clubs in town to meet up with a friend at the time. He was kind of drunk so I thought it was a good idea to put my bag in his just so that I could watch one bag! Stupidest idea to date! I sat down for the better part of the night to look after the bags as we had conversation. If you know me, I love dancing so it was kind of a bummer I couldn't dance but I could suck it up! So my friend said he'd look after the bags, I should go dance. I wasn't so sure it was a good idea but he said he was good, so I was like why not?

Moves like Jagger! (So corny, I know! Lol)

So some guy came to sit with us at the table and my friend was indulging him and giving him liquor. So anyone would have assumed they knew each other. How I wish that was the case! This guy disappeared with the bags!!!!!!!!!!!!! The next thing I knew my friend was shouting and breaking bottles. Haha! I swear I've never seen anything like it. It's funny now,  but at the time it wasn't.
It was a little something like this... He went ballistic I kid you not! haha

So this chauvinistic excuse for a human being had the audacity to tell me that it was my fault the bags were stolen because I am the woman!

WHAAAAAAAT!!! You are kidding right, haha!

Oh My Living God! He wasn't! I did not know I doubled up as a watchman wa vibeti! What kind of nonsense was this? Granted, I should have been keener but I cannot be fully to blame yet he had assured me not once or twice he'd watch the bags. What role did he play in this?

The mere fact that I acknowledged my part in it all made me realize that there are idiots in the world (I'm still alittle bitter.. I'm human, leave me alone! hahaha) and that I need to be more careful when I go out.

So all I’m trying to communicate with this week's post is that before you start throwing blame around, sit your behind down and see if you had a hand in the situation you are in, establish what you should have done better, apologize and do better. Simple.As.That.

  2. Hahahaha hey watch-woman lol.

Its quite unfortunate that it has become such a norm that it turns into character( i.e past a habit). This for sure should change as It saves a lot of emotional drainage.

  6. Another masterpiece.. Watchman wa vibeti wacha nikwambie, this may seem like such an obvious thing but it's not. People like to blame rather than taking responsibility. It's comfortable and saves their ego from having to admit when they are wrong. Don't you just hate it when someone decides to admit their wrong but they say "I'm sorry if.... " you know, when the apology is based on shutting you up rather than an admission of guilt and sincerity? Anyway,as always great piece Njeri.

GENDER BASED VIOLENCE; STILL A HUGE THORN IN KENYA'S FLESH

Hey Wisdom Nugget Lovers, Gender based violence encompasses quite a few subtopics i.e  physical assault, verbal abuse, domestic conflicts, defilement, sexual assault and forced marriages. Violence against women and girls knows no race, age, class or culture. It has been happening since time immemorial, some based on stupid ideologies and cultural beliefs among other reasons. It occurs in homes, schools, places of work and entertainment just to name a few .  Domestic violence is defined as   "the willful intimidation, physical assault, battery, sexual assault, and/or other abusive behavior as part of a systematic pattern and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another. it includes physical violence, physiological violence, and emotional abuse" Just last month we heard about the story of Lucy Njambi who is a victim of Domestic Violence based on her story. Her husband, former Kiambu MCA, who was in the company of unidentifie...

LOSING YOUR SENSE OF SELF.

Has something so devastating happened to you or someone close to you and you saw how everything changed for them! Pain and trauma have a way of changing people and how they view life. Some people get knocked down by the sudden life changing event and dust themselves up and fight through it.... Others have the hardest time getting past it but once they do,they come out a different person... others barely make it out! Some people really start to find their identify in the pain and the hurt that they don't remember who they were before it all. The pain is their familiar place. As a means to suppress all the internal war they are experiencing, some turn to alcohol, drugs, cutting themselves, self medicating.... These are things we see around us all the time. We just don't really know how much someone is going through and as per usual we are always so quick to judge. You know I'm right! This year alone,I feel like I have gotten the opportunity to meet pretty i...

ON THAT PETTY WAP!

Pettiness: an act recently so celebrated even with its social unacceptability! An act that displays sheer immaturity aimed at garnering attention and pity from those around us whilst fully equipped with a justification as a means to excuse ourselves for being held accountable for bad behavior!  What I mean by pettiness is, a focus on issues so small and trivial that it's almost silly; especially in a narrow-minded way. It can only be used to describe the quality of a person that's also called "small-minded." I have fallen prey to this oh so embarrassing act one too many times, so I am an expert on the same (Trust me... πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚) and I think it’s time someone really said how wrong it is instead of letting social media trick us into thinking it’s something to celebrate and even make merchandise on! (Sigh!)  Pettiness is neither cute nor admirable people!!! So......a couple of years ago, I wait...
